Dead Week Day 0, 1, and 2

Dead week started a little earlier for me this year. Sunday morning I got up and went to work for a couple hours until I had to leave to go to my group meeting to finish our project. I was still sore from the half marathon. My foot was the worst and still is the worst. We started and 10 am and worked all throughout the night until 3 am the next morning. We had everything about 90% complete at the end of those long 17 hours of working. We worked through lunch and dinner as well. Luckily one of my teammates parents bought is dinner. The only thing we had left to do was enable flash memory, finish our report, and then submit everything. One of my teammates fixed the problem we were having with the flash memory the next morning. Because he had finished that, all we had to do was add a couple more lines of code and then take it to our professor to demo it. He seemed pretty pleased with our demo. The last thing we had left was to finish our report and then submit that along with our code and poster for the showcase. Did all of that last night so all that is left is te showcase on Friday. I felt a whole lot of stress being relieved from my shoulders last night. Still a little stressed over my lab practical that I had this morning. I wasn't able to go to open lab because I didn't make it back to school in time because of my car breaking down. Complete bummer. My roommate helped me out and explained to me the answers to the questions so I could study them. I ended up finishing the lab practical too! So there's a whole lot more stress relieved from my shoulders.

Here's a link to the video of our final project:

My foot is still killing me though. It's mainly my right foot that is hurting so badly. Now all that is left to worry about is my last MSE homework and my 3 finals next week which I think I know how to study for. Hopefully I'll get my car back this week too. My muscles are pretty much recovered for the most part. Still some soreness.

Earlier today I just got word that my car is ready to be picked up. Can't wait to have my car back! Thus far, this week has been pretty rewarding mentally, but not so good physically. Plus I think I'm getting sick.

Post Half Marathon Thoughts

Around 24 hours ago it didn't phase me that I would be running a half marathon. Now it's post half marathon and I still can't believe I finished. One blister, sore lower body, and the most drained I've been in quite sometime. Overall it was a humbling and accomplishing experience.

Waiting for a table at Black Dog's Smoke and Ale House.

After the race we went to the Virginia Theater, I believe it's called, and took a picture with Ebert! That was pretty cool. We also went to go get Insomnia cookies which really hit the spot after those long 13.1 miles. Before departing we were recommended to go the Black Dog's for lunch. We waited for quite a bit but it was totally worth it. Then after all that food I had to stay out of my food coma for the ride home. We took one last trip to Statbucks before my family and Dillon went back home, and I went back to school.

I made it about 10 to 15 minutes outside of UIUC when my car's power steering went out and then the engine started to overheat. My phone was almost dead so I decided to quickly send my mom a text to let her know what happened. Luckily a police officer pulled over to the side to help me out and called a tow truck. Just as the tow truck got there, my parents had just gotten there as well. So we went to a shop in Telton, IL and made arrangements of what is going to happen next. Hopefully I will have my car back in a couple of days. What had happened was some belt broke and stopped everything from rotating so the car wasn't being cooled and the power steering stopped working as a result of that.

It was a bittersweet day to say the least. Bitter in the sense that my car broke down, but sweet that I finished a half marathon. Someday, I will run a full marathon, but first I'll run another half and do some proper training. The extent of my training was running on and off 3 weeks prior to the race. My longest run was about 4 miles. I think I'll take it a little more serious next time.

Hello, World!

Since social media has sort of been winding down for me, I have decided to take up blogging. I will still be using Facebook and Twitter to get updates on certain events, but as far as posting on them, I think I am done. I will be moving to Boise, ID this summer for an internship with Micron and I want to try and keep up with this blogging. I will probably do another post with my goals, plans, and dreams for the summer, but for now I just wanted to add a little something. I will have a little less than a week break between the semester ending and moving, so in that time I will be doing some prepping and practicing for this blog. I might eventually move toward my own domain and own blog space at some point in time. I just want my blog to be simple, easy-to-read, and elegant.
